A colonoscopy is a medical procedure where a doctor inserts a long, thin tube into a person's rectum and colon. The tube has a tiny camera on the end, which allows the doctor to see the inside of the colon. The doctor may also take small samples of tissue (biopsies) during the colonoscopy.
